Many thanks...
Many thanks to all those individuals and groups who donate their time, money and energy to Human Rights Monitors. Often, we get thanks from others, which we really appreciate.
Just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who helped organise for
climate camp. Your presence at climate camp was welcome and very worthwhile.
On the Sunday protest, there was a massive police presence, including riot
squad and horses. The protest was very spread out and unpredictable. HRMs
did a great job at covering so much space bringing back records and footage
of so many incidents of illegal and improper conduct by police. On Monday,
HRMs again were successful in monitoring police at a number of smaller
protests and bringing back invaluable.
I hope will only continue to grow and strengethen in order for HRMs to continue their important role. It has been great to work with all of you.
Thanks!

I would like to thank you on behalf of the NoToPope Coalition. Your efforts in helping us win the right to march….were crucial. The advice you gave us in the face of the 'annoyance laws' which threatened peaceful protesters with $5500 fines, and the help you provided at the wonderful, peaceful rally itself, was invaluable. You were a vital part of the campaign. Thanks again from the NoToPope Coalition.

As governments around Australia have moved to restrict the legal rights of individual citizens and strengthen police powers the role played by Human Rights Monitors in monitoring police behaviour and publicising examples of excessive use and abuse of police powers is crucial.
The work of Human Rights Monitors brings scrutiny and a level of transparency to police behaviour that governments and Police Commissioners may not like but which is essential in maintaining an open and democratic society.
